Galveston.com’s Dining Diva Reviews Willie G’s Seafood & Steaks

galvestoncom:

It’s been a while since we dined at Willie G’s. A friend wanted lobster for her birthday so a group of us gathered there. The weather was lovely so we chose outdoor seating, a special treat with the Elissa  temporarily docked nearby. The extensive wine list provided both the red and white wine lovers among us many fine choices and we savored some while we perused the menu.

Full review here.

I found this to be a fascinating photo of a disaster that many people have forgotten.
“The Galveston Hurricane of 1900 is to date the deadliest natural disaster ever to strike the United States. By contrast, the second-deadliest storm to strike the United States, the 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane, caused more than 2,500 deaths, and the deadliest storm of recent times, Hurricane Katrina, claimed the lives of approximately 1,800 people.” (Source)
Hopefully we have learned important lessons from all of these in terms of how to protect people and decrease loss of life.
