Austin: Festival Capital of the World
We’re thinking the title above should be the city’s next seeing as how we are beginning to have a few simultaneous festivals.
This weekend is no exception.
- The Austin Food & Wine Festival officially begins Friday and goes through Sunday. Food writer Addie Broyles will be updating us on the scene.
- Psych Fest kicks off tonight with performances by the Black Angels, Dead Meadow and more.
- The Moontower Comedy Festival continues through the weekend with a performance by Wanda Sykes on Saturday. The festival organizers even opened up a free show to the public featuring Jeffrey Ross, who plans to do a roast of Austin.
God kill me now.

Revival Market
Located in the Heights of Houston, Texas, this local market offers a variety of meats/produce sourced directly from Texas. I find this market to be a great place for a nice and relaxing lunch or a cup of coffee. The employees are extremely helpful and the whole market offers a sort of blissful atmosphere.
Everything is a bit on the pricey side but is an indulgence that should be taken once in awhile.
Franklin BBQ
This place is damn good. Tipsy Texan sandwich consisting of chopped beef, sliced sausage, pickles, and slaw. Plate of brisket, beans, mashed potatoes, and bread. Three different, delicious sauces to choose from on the side. Thank you, Austin, TX, for delivering Franklin Barbeque to the realm of mankind. More to come…

None of your thick white rind, no tart taste. Just pure sweetness…
And the best I’ve found come from Bayview, near Brownsville, where there is one grower (at least) who’s never sprayed the trees she planted herself.
