Dear Anon who asked the other day if I was a lesbian:

At first, I was just going to ignore the question as just another anon.  But then I realized that the question was likely prompted by a few posts lately about the Austin Pride march and the Austin police department’s It Gets Better video in support of youth suicide prevention.

Now we don’t really get too controversial around this blog but its important to me to say that I personally firmly believe that every single person who shares this little planet deserves the same human rights as all others and we should all, regardless of orientation, support equality.  Same right to be in service to your country, same Social Security benefits and childcare tax credits, same access to family & medical leave, right to marry who we love. 

So you know what? I am not going to answer that question because orientation doesn’t impact where I stand on equality in the slightest.  And thats why I think it is important to include posts like these and celebrate things like Austin passing a resolution in support of gay marriage. Just like we celebrate enormous Frito Pies.
